Places along the beginning of the trek

From Pokhara, which lies at an altitude of 1400 meters, you will go to Nayapul at a height of 1010 meters. Nayapul lies in the north-east of Pokhara which can be traveled in one and a half hours.

From Nayapul, you will take a trail that is almost exactly North and walk through the Tikhedhunga Khola. Tikhedhunga has an elevation of 1525 meters. Tikhedhunga literally translates as a sharp stone. From there you will ascend a series of around 3000 stairs and reach a village named Ulleri.

The next stop from Ulleri is the picture-perfect village of Ghorepani. Ghorepani is also exactly north of Ulleri and has an altitude of 2850 meters. It is a common story that ancient traders when they met for discussing business used Ghorepani as a place where they rested their horses. “Ghore” translates as horses and “Pani” translates as water, hence the name of this village.

From Ghorepani, you will also reach Poon Hill in around one hour. You will take this journey early in the morning as the Poon Hill sunrise is one of the most awesome that you are likely to encounter. It is full of the brilliant mountains in the Annapurna region. Poon Hill lies slightly North-West of Ghorepani.

After spending time there, you will come back to Ghorepani. But you won’t descend from the place that you came. From Ghorepani, you will head to the slightly to the East and reach Tadapani.

From Tadapani, you will descend slightly along the South-West, reach Ghandruk to Syauli and finally come back to the starting point of Nayapul. The village of Ghandruk is a village that is full of the Gurung people of this village.
