Ghorepani Poon Hill is one of the most popular short trekking destinations in Nepal. Lying quite close to the majestic city of Pokhara, it is a place with low altitude and doesn’t require you to bear the cold climatic conditions of some of the high altitude trekking destinations in Nepal.
Poon Hill lies at an altitude of 3210 meters. This makes the threat of altitude sickness practically non-existent. The villages along the way such as Ghorepani, Tadapani, Ghandruk, Ulleri etc lie at a much lower altitude making the trek an extremely moderate one.
Trekking in lower altitude region like Ghorepani Poon Hill also makes it easier for you to trek all year round. Even in the coldest of winter months, the temperature of Poon Hill doesn’t go well below 0 degrees C. During the summers, the average temperature of Poon Hill is 15 degrees C. This makes it a trek that is accessible in all seasons.
Gurung and Magar culture dominates the region of the Poon Hill trek. Gurungs and Magars are especially well known for their hospitality. When you are trekking in this region, you should expect warm hospitality and an embrace of the local culture here.
One of the most beautiful attractions of the Poon Hill trek is the mesmerizing views of sunrise and sunset you get from here. During your trek, you will head out early in the morning from Ghorepani to Poon Hill to catch a glimpse of the beautiful sunrise.
While you are at Poon Hill, you will also be able to see many mountains of the Annapurna region. Poon Hill is truly a gorgeous place to trek to in Nepal. And if you have had little or no trekking experience in the Himalayas. Poon Hill should be the one you opt for.

I and my sister had an amazing time in Nepal with Sublime. Ram, our guide Raju, porter Suraj were so supportive. We had some issues with flight delay yet our arrival was accommodated smoothly by Ram. They ensured that our tours in Pokhara and Kathmandu have the highest quality. Even though it was our first time trekking (and we were not very physically fit), we felt safe and at ease from the beginning to the end. We also enjoyed very much the farewell dinner with a cultural program offered by Ram. We appreciated that he took our feedback seriously. Thank you Sublime Trails! Definitely got some motivation to start exercise and go trekking in the future. We are coming back next year for ABC and highly recommend Sublime Trails!

Kathmandu has hundreds of travel and trekking companies and as a travelling family (my wife, son and myself) you want someone who's able to cater to all our needs, to be able to consider my 7 year old son and our concerns for him about altitude sickness, to be helpful and considerate of my wife's fear of height's, to wait for me - the fat, unfit, beer-fuelled fool. Well, we were blessed to have stumbled on Ram, Ram is highly experienced, informative, entertaining and all round great company, his choice of porters was magnificent, they were amazing with my son, especially during those moments when amicable is off the list. I, and my family loved our Annapurna trek, loved the flexibility with no time pressure, loved the care provided, we cannot praise Ram and his team enough..... as our catch cry goes..... 'AWESOME'

Hari greeted us at our hotel in Phokara the evening before our trek, to get all our gears in the city. Hari is friendly, cheerful and speaks perfect English. He prepared us with all the information about the trek so we were physically and mentally prepared. Along the trek, Hari tirelessly answered our endless questions and made sure to tell us everything interesting we see along the way. The trek was an absolute delight, well, despite the physical challenges of trekking due to the fact that we had not trained at all prior. But all was possible because of the considerate guide that allowed us to go at our own pace, and of course, our reliable porter Purna who carried both of our bags but still reached the destination hours before us. The trek was full of laughter, great views, and songs along the way. Throughout the trip, Keshab also arranged all our airport pickup/dropoffs without fail. His drivers are never late, and also extremely skilled in maneuvering the never-ending mountains of Nepal.

We went on a 6-day trek, followed by bungy jumping, water rafting, and a one-day city tour. Almost the whole group of 9 were first timers in trekking. Ram is very experienced. He could name us every tree or flower that we asked about. We were also very grateful that he and his team of assistant guide Suraj and porters went out of their way to help us fulfill, not just our needs but also our whims - running around the mountain village to hunt for a chicken because we talked about craving for meat. During one of the toughest days of the trek, the porters, who have already accomplished their job for the day, voluntarily left the comfort of the tea house to accompany a few of us slowpokes through the last bit of the snowy rainy dark night, giving us more light and encouragement to go on. I also liked that Ram takes care of his porters and does not make them carry too much load, unlike some of the other poor porters we saw on the way. And the tea houses we stay in use the more environmentally-friendly option of solar power heating.
