Geography of Poon Hill

Weather in Poon Hill
Lower altitude of Poon Hill also means that the weather and temperature are going to be mild. When you go to high altitude to trek, you have to constantly be careful of the temperature differences between the daytime and nighttime but this is not the case for the Poon Hill trek.
Also, the small gain in altitude means that the temperature differences between various places along the trekking route are not high. Besides, the summer and winter temperatures are not wildly varying.
There might be chances of the temperature going slightly below the mark of 0 degrees in some winter months but with sensible packing, this is not a major worry. Also in the summers, the temperatures are in the mid 20’s making it possible for you to trek in a t-shirt!!

Poon Hill Weather - Spring (March, April & May)
Spring is perhaps one of the most beautiful months to trek in Nepal and lasts from March to May. Mild temperatures, low precipitation, lush vegetation, clear skies, and wonderful trekking experience- just what you are looking for while trekking.
The temperature is lowest in Poon Hill in the month of March and highest in the month of May.
In May it can get as high as 25 degrees in some parts of your path. The lowest temperature gets in March is in Ghorepani.

The precipitation is the lowest in the month of March for the spring season. The precipitation is the highest in the month of May and this is expected as the Monsoon season begins in Nepal from the month of June.
Poon Hill Weather - Summer (June, July & August)
The summer in Poon Hill lasts from June to August. Summer during your Poon Hill trek is really warm making it possible for you to trek in t-shirts and shorts. How convenient!!
But you also have to make sure that you are geared up for any chances of rain in this season. Summer in Nepal coincides with the monsoon.

June, July and August are the months with the highest amount of rainfall too. The amount of rainfall in June is almost half as that in the month of July. July experiences the highest rainfall. The rainfall also decreases in August.
Poon Hill Weather - Autumn (September, October & November)
Autumn is another month besides Spring which is the most favorable for the purpose of trekking. This is the reason why Nepal’s trekking routes are visibly full of domestic and international trekkers as well as hikers.
Autumn falls in the month of September to November. After the summer season, rainfall in the Poon Hill trek decreases quite significantly and reaches to the lowest in the month of November.
The precipitation in the month of November in Ghorepani is a mere 6 mm.

Poon Hill Weather - Winter (December, January & February)
Winter in Nepal, and therefore Poon Hill, falls in the month of December to February. The temperatures at certain places in the trekking route to Poon Hill does go below the freezing point of water. But these temperatures are nowhere as cold as that in the Base Camp regions.
Also, the chances of cloud covering the mountains are minimum in the winters. So if you can bear a bit of the cold that the mountains offer you, you can experience some of the most splendid views of the Annapurna region.
