What to Expect:
1. Food and Accommodation
Food and accommodation during this trek are minimalistic since the areas falling in the trekking route are far from modern and easy transportation. You will stay at a teahouse providing simple and clean services. Heaters are only found in the dining halls and food like pasta, noodles, Dal Bhat, potatoes, vegetables, cereals, eggs, rice, soup, etc. are served. You may get private single, double, triple rooms or even rooms shared with more people depending on the season. While in Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will stay at a 3-star hotel providing breakfast. Other meals are not included to let you explore different restaurants with various cuisines depending on what you like.
Annapurna Base Camp trek starts as you head towards Pokhara. Pokhara is famous for its beautiful lakes. Apart from that, it offers various places you can go sightseeing like temples and caves. Sarangkot is a viewpoint from where you can get amazing views of mountains like Dhawalagiri, Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, etc. during sunset. It is also a tourist hub and has different places like bars and cafes to chill and enjoy yourselves.
3. Poon Hill
Poon Hill is another viewpoint to get mesmerizing view of mountains. This place is popular for viewing Himalayas during sunrise or sunsets. It is really fun activity to wake up early and reach there to get outstanding views of mountains during sunrise. Poon Hill itself is a trekking destination of many who don’t have enough time to complete Annapurna Base Camp trek.
4. Machhapuchhre Base Camp
Machhapuchhre Base Camp lies on the foot of Mt. Machhapuchhre and gives you the outstanding views of mountains of Annapurna Range including Machhapuchhre, Lumjung, Annapurna I, II, and III and other surrounding peaks.
5. Annapurna Base Camp
Annapurna Base Camp is where we set out to reach and lies at the foot of Annapurna I. You can see the glaciers and other snow-capped mountains of Annapurna Range including the majestic view of Annapurna I. A night at this Base Camp stargazing millions or stars and galaxies, far from worldly distractions, is one of the most beautiful experiences one can have in life.
6. Traditional Gurung & Magar community
People of various ethnic groups live in this preserved region of Annapurna while Magar and Gurung predominate the percentage among all. They preserve their culture and traditions in their day to day lives while you can explore them living with them for all these days. They are mostly tea houses owners or villagers busy in their livelihood. They are famous for showing warm hospitality to travelers and our guides will help you communicate with them.
7. Jhinu Hot Spring
While returning from Annapurna Base Camp, you can find a hot spring near Jhinu Danda known as Jhinu Hot Spring. This is where you can dive and release your stress while enjoying the healing hot water and the beautiful landscape.
8. Breathtaking views of landscapes and mountains
One of the major attractions of this and many other treks in regions of Nepal are the beautiful landscapes you can find along the way. Since the beginning of the trek, the surrounding mountains, forests, rivers and waterfalls welcome and sooth you. Trekking is a strenuous activity and these are the things that keep you going, the beautiful scenery. As the trek progresses, mountains like Machchapuchhre, Nilgiri and Annapurna seem to get closer and more mesmerizing. Several suspension bridges make this trek even more fun and exciting.
9. Diverse flora and fauna
Annapurna Base Camp lies on the restricted Annapurna Conservation area which is also a home to different species of birds, plants and animals. You get to see various animals on their natural habitats. The chirping of the birds soothes you as you trek on the rough path.
