Best Viewpoints of Himalaya in Nepal

Despite being a small country, Nepal offers a diverse range of landscapes. The northern side of Nepal is covered with snow-capped mountains including 8 of the 14 highest mountains. It is followed by hills covered in lush forests. The beauty of these amazing mountains is enhanced with the presence of lakes, glaciers, waterfalls, rivers, and forests. The view of the combination of these looks beautiful from almost everywhere. However, there are some points from where the view of these landscapes looks magnificent. You will encounter many viewpoints while trekking or traveling to Nepal. While traveling to the Himalayan region, mountain passes are generally the best viewpoints to get the amazing view of the mountain as they are high in elevation. Here are some of the best viewpoints to look after to get the best view of the landscapes. 
 

Kalapatthar (Everest region)

Kalapatthar is the highest viewpoint in Nepal located in the foothill of Mt. Everest. It gives the closest-ever view of Mt. Everest and adjacent peaks such as Lhotse, Nuptse, etc. Khumbu icefall looks breathtaking from here. You can expect to see some thrilling landscapes towards the south including glaciers, moraine valleys, etc. The sunrise from Kalapatthar is one of the most spectacular views to behold. You can go to Kalapatthar while trekking to Everest Base Camp. Nowadays, you can take a Helicopter tour to Kalapatthar as well. It provides you with the landing opportunity at Kalapatthar for about 10 minutes. 
 

Khopra Ridge (Annapurna Region)

Khopra ridge is one of the wonderful vantage points of the Annapurna region. It provides you with the stunning panorama of mountain ranges. You can expect to see peaks such as Mt. Dhawalagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna South, etc. Kali Gandaki river and the deep gorge looks stunning from Khorpa ridge. There are trekking packages that take you to Khorpa danda. It is 5 days trekking away from Pokhara.
 

Gokyo Ri (Everest Region)

Gokyo Ri is another spectacular viewpoint of the Everest region. Situated at the elevation of 5483 m, it provides an amazing view of the snow-capped mountains. You can expect to see the view of the mountains such as Mt. Everest (8848m), Mt. Lhotse (8516m) Mt, Makalu (8463m), Mt. Cho Oyu (8201m), Nuptse (7855m), Mt. Pumori (7145m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6856m), Mt. Thamserku (6723m). You also get the spectacular view of Gokyo lakes from the summit of Gokyo Ri. You can go there while having Gokyo Lake trekking or other trekkings including Gokyo. 
 

Tengboche (Everest region)

Tengboche's viewpoint lies at the altitude of 3864 m in the Khumbu region. It is also one of the stations during Everest Base Camp trekking. From here, a breathtaking view of the mountains likeTawache, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu, and Thamserku can be seen. The view of the glaciers and moraine valleys looks amazing from here. You can go to Tengboche while having Everest Base Camp trekking. Trekking specialized for Tengboche (Everest Panorama Trek).
 

 Poon Hill (Annapurna region)

Poon hill is one of the most popular and spectacular viewpoints to behold the mountain ranges of the Annapurna region. As the trekking to Poon hill is relatively easy as compared to other long trekkings, it is the best destination feasible for almost everyone. You can get an amazing view of the mountains such as Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Fishtail, Nilgiri and many other peaks. The view of the sunrise is the best experience you can have in Poon Hill. You can go to Poon Hill while having Annapurna Base Camp trek. However, there are packages specialized for Poon hill such as Ghorepani-Poonhill Trek.
 

Sarangkot (around Pokhara valley)

Sarangkot is the viewpoint near Pokhara valley. A few hours of walk from Pokhara takes you to Sarangkot. Mountains of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range look amazing from here. You can expect to see the mountains such as Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, etc from here. Apart from the mountains, the view of the Pokhara valley looks thrilling here. Many lakes of Pokhara can be seen from Sarangkot. It is also a popular viewpoint to behold the sunrise over the mountains. 
 

Nagarkot (around Kathmandu valley)

Nagarkot is the viewpoint around Kathmandu valley. An hour of drive and hike takes you to Nagarkot's viewpoint. It offers an amazing view of the mountains such as Mt. Everest. Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and Gaurishankar range, etc. You also get a refreshing view of the forest of Shivapuri National Park. There are many hotels and lodges available in Nagarkot. You can stay overnight there to behold the sunrise over the mountains which looks mesmerizing.
