1. Gosainkunda Lake
Gosaikunda Lake lies at the height of 4,380 meters inside the Langtang National Park. This lake is visited by trekkers all around the world to witness the serene and untouched beauty. But, it is also a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists. It is believed that Lord Shiva drank poison after Samundra Manthan and hurt his throat in the process. He is believed to have come to this place to heal his throat. Pilgrims believe that taking a bath in the holy lake of Gosaikunda takes away pain, sorrow, and sins.
This sacred lake is visited by hundreds of pilgrims from Nepal and India during Gangadashahara and the Janai Purnima. This lake remains frozen for 6 months in the winter (October to June). This lake lies within the rugged terrain and is surrounded by the views of snow-peaked mountains.
